Jimi Hendrix - Star Spangled Banner / Purple Haze

In 1969 the single most influential event in music history, of ever, hands down, imho, happened. Woodstock.

Woodstock was a music festival held from August 15 to 18, 1969, on a farm 40 miles southwest of the town of Woodstock, NY. It was known as "3 Days of Peace & Music" and the first festival of it's kind.

It's estimated that 460,000 people attended the festival which featured 32 different artists. Woodstock marked

Jimi Hendrix was the last artist to perform on stage. During his set he performed an iconic rendition of The Star Spangled Banner with thick distortion and improvisation.

Jimi Hendrix was a tremendous rock and blues guitarist and is known as one of the most prominent originators of the psychedelic rock genre, which was a type of music fueled by hallucinogenic drugs.

Hendrix released the album "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" in 1967 containing one of his most well-known songs, "Purple Haze."
